Excursion tips in the Bregenzerwald

On our days off we try to get out and into nature as quickly as possible, preferably directly from SWANS. We do this in every season and weather, with sneakers, mountaineering boots or snowshoes. We are mostly alone on our favorite paths, which we really appreciate.

Through the forest to Känzele

The Känzele lies between Bizau and Bezau. Everyone who stays with us should certainly walk it. A wonderful, shady forest path, which is covered with blueberries in summer. There are various ways of reaching this wonderful view point. I prefer to walk up the Oberberg, Stein, over See, Bockvorsäß to Känzele and then over the Ölberg to Bezau. There you can either walk back along the river on foot or take the bus. Most people take about 3 hours for the round trip.

SNOW-SHOE WALKING

To be, where nobody else is, in often untouched, peaceful snowy landscapes, alone or in small groups. Actually the total unwinding, at least for me.

UP AND DOWN TO GOPF

The Gopf is like life, it has its ups and downs and you never really see the goal clearly, until you have reached it. We call it the mushroom and berry mountain, especially in late summer to autumn. From the SCHWANEN you walk over the Wendelins chapel with a wonderful view of the Kanisfluh, then over the ridge to the Gopf-Kopf. That is more or less our house tour. We take approx. 4 hours.

SUMMIT FOR 2 ON THE HÄHLEKOPF

The summit for 2 people, as there is only room for 2. The last third of the ascent is steep and takes you through the forest, but otherwise quite manageable. We start our hike from the hotel over Oberberg, Stein, in the direction of Seefluh and Hählekopf. It is possible in 4 hours. In addition you can return over the Hinteregg, then it takes 4,5 to 5 hours, and takes you past fabulous meadows.

Emanuels favourites:

BEZEGG – WERKRAUM – JÖSLAR

A wonderful, historic crossing and early cart track. I walk from Bezau over a

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING

Directly from the SCHWANEN. I like to give full power for about 1-2 hours and only have to step out behind the hotel, where it is possible to join the classic or skating tracks. The tracks of the neighbouring regions of Reuthe and Bezau are connected with ours, meaning a really good round can be undertaken.

BAREFOOT PATH IN THE HIGH MOORS

Quite simply a relaxed and leisurely route in the Bizauer High moor, where you can take 1,2 or 3 hours. Exceptionally rewarding in the early morning and after a long hike, for me after a day working in the garden, when your feet are worn out. Within 10 minutes of the SCHWANEN.

VORSÄSS SCHÖNENBACH

As the name says, it is simply beautiful! One of the places I love to talk about and often thought about during my time abroad. Schönenbach is a busy alpine pasture in spring and autumn, with a spectacular backdrop and the starting point of many hikes. Easy to reach by bus or bike, or on a toll road. In autumn the Stag rut is a unique experience. The traditional way of measuring strength and hearing the Stags impresses hunters and non-hunters alike.
