Whoever makes his way to the wine cellar can walk in the footsteps of the Käsgrafen. We are part of a long and exciting family history. It always fascinates me to tell about the transport of the mountain cheese with horse-drawn carriages over the Via Mala and the Splügen Pass to Milan.
Wine was a big topic in the SCHWANEN even in the days of my great-great-great-grandfather. While most inns in the Bregenzerwald only offered beer, the SCHWANEN usually served Italian wine, which the cheese traders brought back on their return trips.
The appeal of wine to this day is the never-ending matter. In New York, the opportunity arose for me to apply what I had learned as a sommelier with Daniel Boulud. Without a doubt one of the best jobs in the world. Here you can really live it up as a sommelier and taste and sell any wine you can think of.
But: wine is not everything! I'm a total beer geek and always interested in finding new and interesting styles and breweries.
There's still a lot for me to discover. That reassures me.
